Learning more about red cherry shrimp

I just started a red cherry shrimp tank. Please share your experiences and hints :slightly_smiling_face:
I would love to hear what works for you and what doesn’t . Thanks.

A lot of food and water changes. Cull out the bad shrimp and only keep the very best. Do this again and again until you get the best color you can.

What hints do you have for removing uneaten extra food?

Do you use plant fertilizer? If so what is your favorite brand and how do you use?

Yes, the most important fertilizers are Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) and Monopotassium Phosphate (KH2PO4). The most cost effective method is purchasing them as “dry fertilizers”. You’ll need to calculate the correct dosage depending on your tank size.

Liquid fertilizer such as “Seachem Flourish” is an all-in-one solution that’s great for beginners. It is a liquid solution that includes the chemical compounds mentioned above (but you’ll pay a bit more for the convenience)

Air pumps- I accidentally bought an air pump that has an intermittent feature - 10 seconds on and off - is there an advantage to an intermittent air pump feature? It seems like it is there for battery conservation if you lose power.
