What do you think are the best fish for a 20-gallon tank?
I’ll start with one of my favorites: the Blue Emperor Tetra (photo below 
). They’re active, colorful, and thrive in a small school, making them a great fit for this tank size.

I like rasboras and my current favorites are the purple harlequin rasboras! They’re fast growers and the purple really stands out against their silver bodies.
Make sure to get 4 or more as they are schoolers.
Almost any assortment of fish in a 20 gallon tank would be complimented with a couple Cory cats. They are active, comical, cute and will liven up your tank, not to mention helping with the clean up of any uneaten food.
I think corydoras, neocaridina, endlers and dwarf neon rainbowfish are a great mix for this size tank.
If you have a planted tank, Badis Badis (or scarlet Badis) would be an excellent choice.
